Celtic could be set to receive a major cash boost as Moussa Dembele has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

It might be a few years since Moussa Dembele left Celtic but he still remains a fan favourite at Parkhead. the Frenchman clearly still loves the club as well, judging from his social media activity. And what is more is the fact that the Hoops could still profit in the near future when he eventually ends up leaving Lyon.

His name has been linked with a move away on multiple occasions with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal reportedly interested in his services. None of those moves have ever come off. But this time around the news could be very genuine and there is clear logic behind a move happening.

After a nightmare season-and-a-half that saw him score just 14 goals, West Ham United have agreed to let Sebastien Haller join Ajax for a transfer fee reported to be around £20 million. That is a huge loss when you consider he was signed for a club record £45 million and expected to be a huge hit in the Premier League.

And as reported by Caught Offside, The Hammers will look to fill the void by trying to sign Dembele from Lyon.

Despite scoring 44 goals over the past two seasons, Dembele has struggled this time around and managed to find the back of the net just once. And he is no longer a first-team regular for the Ligue 1 giants.

While transfer figures as high as £70 million have been floated around in the past, it is unlikely that he will fetch anything near that right now. But a fee in the region of £30-40 million is still very plausible considering his past exploits and undeniable potential.

Even that could represent a massive cash windfall for Celtic who are believed to have a 15% sell-on clause in his contract. A huge sum of money for the Hoops, especially in the current financial situation and one that could go a long way in their expected rebuilding process.
