It does appear that the Celtic star, who is going through a tough time at the moment, has deleted all his social media accounts.

It is hard being a footballer these days, especially for a club the size of Celtic. While the game on a pitch remains as competitive, social media has also become a huge part of their lives. Of course, while there are a lot of good aspects of modern technology, it is also very easy to make their lives difficult when they are not performing.

Shane Duffy is someone who has not had a great time since joining The Hoops in the summer. When he moved to the club that he grew up supporting, he would have surely had dreams of going down in folklore by helping them secure a historic 10IAR.

The reality has been very different though. Celtic have been very disappointing this season and the title race might already be over although we are still in January. Duffy has not been any better either.

More from Celtic FC News

He has looked like a defensive mistake waiting to happen most of the time and there are calls to send him back to Brighton and Hove Albion already. Clearly not how he would have expected things to play out a few months ago.

In the midst of all this, it looks like there is a family emergency for the Republic of Ireland international as well. He had travelled to Dubai for the winter training camp but left in the middle of it due to personal reasons.

And now it looks like he has also deleted all his social media accounts. Neither his Twitter or Instagram account are available at the time of writing. This might be just him trying to stay away from the negativity of the internet as he is clearly going through a tough time right now.

Let’s just hope that things are not serious back at home for Duffy and they are sorted out soon. We would like to extend our best wishes to him and his family.
