Celtic have been linked with an ambitious move for the 19-year-old wanted by the likes of FC Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich.

Celtic’s transfer business over the past few seasons has been questionable to say the least. They have signed far too many players who have added nothing to the squad and have left for a loss a few years. This is one of the primary reasons why the team finds itself where they are now, 19 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership.

If they manage to pull of a move for Leicester City’s 19-year-old midfielder Sidnei Tavares. The Portuguese wonderkid is a cousin of Nani and is very highly-rated by clubs around the world.

His contract at Leicester City is up in the summer though. And Brendan Rodgers is yet to use him in the first-team. As a result, he is believed to be pushing for a move.

If he does indeed end up leaving he won’t have a lack of suitors though as FC Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich are all keeping tabs on the youngster according to The Sun. One of the clubs in the hunt for his signature is Celtic.

Now why would he move to Parkhead over the likes of those European giants? Well, for the simple reason that he will probably get something here that he would not at any of those clubs – regular playing time.

How many highly-rated players have gone to the likes of FC Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich just to sit on the bench and then leave a couple of years later? Countless. That is not the best thing for a player’s future prospects or development.

You would also hope that his current manager, Brendan Rodgers, puts in a good word for his ‘favourite club’. Although the big question is whether the Celtic board can get a deal of this magnitude done. You never know these days. Especially consider their recent record in the transfer market.
