Henrik Larsson has opened up about him always been linked with a potential return to Celtic and if that could be on the cards one day.

It is not hard to see why Henrik Larsson is always linked with a return to Parkhead. After what the Swede achieved at Celtic as a player, there will always be fans who would want to see him in the dugout as a manager one day.

Till now though that has not come true. And a large reason for that is his lacklustre career in management till now. Otherwise, you’d have to feel that he would have already made his much anticipated comeback to manage the Hoops.

Right now though, Larsson finds himself in a pretty good spot. He is a part of Ronald Koeman’s coaching team at FC Barcelona. And while the Catalan giants have had their own worries this season, it is not a bad thing to have the experience of coaching Lionel Messi on your resume.

When inevitably asked about taking over the mantle at Parkhead one day, he told cfbfootball:

"“You’re right it’s been like that and to be honest I think it will always be like that in the years ahead while I’m in this line of work. For me, that’s just the way it is as I’m so connected with Celtic that my name will always be mentioned there and I’m so fortunate to still be remembered as a player and hopefully as a person as well. It isn’t a burden in any way. It’s a blessing.”"

When further pressed on for an answer, he said:

"“It’s impossible for me to give an answer that isn’t misinterpreted by some. So as I say, time will tell if things will be like that.”"

If the opportunity presented itself, we both know that Larsson would love to take the job. But it is does not look like he is anywhere near ready yet. Before taking the FC Barcelona job, the only experience he had was in his native Sweden and it is safe to say that his record there is far from impressive.

In fact, he managed boyhood club Helsingborgs on two different occasions and both of them came to end under tragic circumstances. The first time around, a group of fans attacked him and his son following their relegation. And he ended his second stint after being abused by their fans again, this time on social media.

The jury is still out on the kind of job he is doing alongside Koeman at FC Barcelona. The La Liga giants currently sit at a lowly sixth, disastrous by their own high standards. And at this rate, it might not be too long before Larsson is looking for another job.
