Neil Lennon has provided a Celtic transfer update following Celtic’s 1-0 defeat away at Ibrox which might very well have ended their 10IAR hopes.

Celtic’s hopes of securing 10IAR were already hanging by a thread before today’s 1-0 defeat that left them 19 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership table. Now, the Hoops will need to win their remaining 19 league games and even that might not be enough. That is the situation that they find themselves in right now.

The biggest talking point of the game was Nir Bitton’s red card. So much so that even Callum McGregor’s own goal has gone under the radar. Things could have been very different though if Christopher Jullien had not badly injured himself days ago.

It has been confirmed that he will be out for three to four months and with Shane Duffy looking extremely shaky, it looks like the Hoops might dip into the transfer market in January. As reported by The Glasgow Times, Neil Lennon said:

"“He has ruptured ligaments in his knee. Obviously, that was a blow coming into the game, but I thought we were good.“It is an area where we will probably look to bring someone in.”"

Central defence was already an area of worry for the Hoops even before Jullien’s injury. And now, there is no way that they can hide from strengthening in the position.

When they do though, they must make sure that they are going after someone who can serve the club for years to come and not just the next six months, cause this season is sadly as good as over barring a miracle.

The scouting must be perfect here. Over the last few years, we have brought in too many players who have gone to do absolutely nothing for the club. This past summer transfer window might be a brilliant example of that. Not that they are bad players but just that they were not the right fit for Celtic. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to keep doing that for any longer. Not when it is very likely that the Rangers will start next season as reigning champions.
