Chris Sutton has told Neil Lennon to make a big call for Celtic’s upcoming all-important Glasgow Derby against the Rangers.
Going into today’s game against the Rangers, Celtic will know that they need to get all three points in order to keep the title race alive. A draw will suit Steven Gerrard’s side just fine while a defeat for the Hoops could very well spell the end of their 10IAR hopes.
As things stand, they find themselves 16 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership table with the three games in-hand being their only saving grace. Even then, it is safe to say that Gerrard’s side are in control of the title race right now.
Thus, Neil Lennon will need to make sure that they can get a positive result at Ibrox today. A win would be spectacular but anything less than a draw is unacceptable. As a result, all eyes on be on the team selection with many ‘leaked’ starting XIs already surfacing online with a number of them having Scott Brown in them.
Chris Sutton has warned Neil Lennon against dropping Ismail Soro though. He wrote in his column in the Daily Record:
"Lennon has some huge decisions to make, right across his team. The main one should be straight forward.Isamaila Soro has to start ahead of Scott Brown. That’s not me putting the boot in to the Celtic captain. He’s been a tremendous servant for the club and a big game player. He was back in the side for the Betfred Cup Final and I thought he was Celtic’s best player. But Lennon can’t leave out Soro now. David Turnbull has helped turn the season around but Soro has played his part as well and it would be massively unfair to leave him out now. He’s earned the right to play and that means making the hard call to leave out Brown against Steven Gerrard’s side."

Soro has been spectacular since being brought into the first-team fold last month. He was given the chance to start against Lille and took the opportunity with both hands. He scored and assisted against Dundee United, and as a result, he is almost undroppable right now.
On the other hand, Scott Brown has not had a great season till now. It does look like age is finally catching up with him as he has failed to get out of the blocks. And while he has a world of experience on his side, at this point of time Soro looks like a much more sensible option to go with.
Of course, you never know with Lennon though. In the past he has shown a lot of loyalty towards the ‘Old Guard’. Sometimes even to a fault. Let’s just hope that he does not try to fit in Broony into the system that has been doing so well over the past weeks and disrupting the flow as a result. It could very well end up costing him his job.
