Celtic fans have not been impressed with the player’s recent performances and don’t want him to start against the Rangers on Saturday.
After a terrible start to their campaign, Celtic have managed to steady the ship a bit over the past month or so. Six wins on the trot means that they have some momentum going into Saturday’s game against the Rangers.
We do not need to tell you how important that game is. The fate of the 10IAR might very well depend on the result at Ibrox. Unfortunately, there might be one major headache for Neil Lennon going into the game.
While the Hoops have improved, the story has been exactly the opposite for Diego Laxalt. The Uruguayan arrived on loan from AC Milan in the summer and was a standout performer after arriving. His performances have not been nearly as impressive since then though. And it looks like the fans do not want to see him starting against the Rangers.
I feel like Laxalt has suffered Lee Naylor syndrome, in a shorter space of time. Starts brilliantly, stand-out performer, then all of a sudden looks like a major weak link at times.

Only change I’d like for Saturday is at LB. Taylor in for Laxalt.

It would be a bit too harsh to drop Laxalt out of the XI though. Yes, he does have his shortcomings. There are questions about him in the defensive third and his delivery is not great either. He is yet to register an assist since joining the Hoops. On the other hand, Greg Taylor has five.
But Laxalt does have a lot of qualities that Taylor doesn’t. If Lennon wants to peg back the Rangers, then the Uruguayan would be a better option. Of course, that comes with the risk of leaving a lot of space behind him. So, the manager will have to decide what he wants to do.
One thing nobody is talking about in this situation is his experience though. He has played in a number of these high voltage games through the course of his career, including a World Cup quarter-final. And even in a Celtic shirt, he has given his best in the big matches. Hopefully, we will see a repeat of that on Saturday, if he does indeed start.
