According to reports, Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing to make a £18 million bid for the Celtic star in the January transfer window.

With the start Celtic have made to their season, it is clear that they need to bring in some reinforcements in the January transfer window. For that to happen, they might have to sell some players though. And Odsonne Edouard appears at the top of that list.

The Frenchman was considered an absolutely necessary part of the team at the start of the season. He had been the club’s talisman for a couple of years and as a result, they refused to let him leave despite his contract running down.

The gamble has not paid off though. This season, he has looked a mere of shadow of himself. In 19 appearances, he managed just 9 goals. Thus, there are whispers that the Hoops could be preparing to cash in on the striker in January and use the transfer fee that they receive to bring in reinforcements in several positions.

According to TEAMtalk, Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to test Celtic’s resolve with an initial £18 million bid. Now, it will be interesting to see whether the Hoops decide to hold on for more. After all, recent rumours have also linked Juventus with the Frenchman.

In the summer, Edouard’s asking price was estimated to be around £30 million. But after his performances over the past several months, that value is expected to have taken a dip.

But despite Edouard’s subpar performances this season, it would be a risky move to let him leave in January before signing a replacement. Neither Albian Ajeti nor Patryk Klimala do not seem capable of being starters at the club. While there are serious question marks over Leigh Griffiths’ fitness.

As a result, it will be very interesting to see what the board decide to do in the upcoming transfer window.
