It looks like the recent rumours surrounding Celtic’s Hatem Abd Elhamed after his recent social media activity did not have any truth to them.

It is no secret that Hatem Abd Elhamed wants to leave Celtic in January. He has publicly come out and let his desire be known already.

Elhamed has grown homesick in Glasgow. His wife failed to receive a work permit in the country and as a result, his young family was forced to move back to Israel. And with the restrictions that came with the global pandemic, things have become much harder for them.

So, it is understandable why the player wants to leave. And if reports are to be believed then Celtic are also sympathetic about his situation and will grant him his wish if they can find a suitable replacement in the winter transfer window.

Elhamed has recently posted pictures with his wife and son on his social media. This had led the fans to speculate whether the club had allowed to leave for Israel already. But as it turns out, there might not be any truth to those rumours. Celts Are Here are reporting that the player is still in Glasgow and he could be a part of things in the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts.

While Elhamed is not a first-team regular, he remains a part of Neil Lennon’s plans for the time being. The Israeli international is capable of playing at both right-back and centre-back. As a result, his versatility makes him an important member of the squad. And the player is also understood to be 100% dedicated to the team.

If Celtic do end up letting Elhamed leave then they will have to find someone with the same amount of versatility to replace him. And that will not be an easy task, especially in the current situation.
