Celtic have reportedly made the £3 million-rated Championship winger their ‘priority’ in the upcoming January transfer window.

With their disappointing start to the season, it is expected that Celtic will try to make some signings in January in order to help turn their campaign around. And it looks like they have set their eyes on Queens Park Rangers winger Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The Nigerian was linked with the Hoops back in the summer as well but a move did not go through back then. The winger will have less than 6 months left on his contract when January rolls around though as his deal expires in the summer. As a result, he will be free to talk to other clubs.

But according to the Daily Record, Celtic are interested in bringing him to Parkhead in January itself instead of waiting for him to be available for free in the summer. And if they make a significant offer then QPR will have a hard time not accepting it considering the fact that look set to lose Osayi-Samuel for nothing in a few months time. He is believed to be rated at around £3 million right now.

The 22-year-old has scored twice and provided 3 assists in 16 Championship appearances this season. But his form might have taken a slight hit with his future up in the air. Last season he had scored 6 times and set up 9 goals for his teammates. Those are impressive numbers for a player who is still developing.

Right-wing is an area were Celtic have been very short recently. James Forrest has been out with injury for a long time now and had to undergo surgery on his ankle. As a result, it would be a smart move on the part of the Hoops to sign another player in that position.

They have used Jeremie Frimpong as a wing-back to fill in there but Neil Lennon could certainly do with some competition in the squad. And Osayi-Samuel is a player who could come in and immediately make an impact at Parkhead. The pacy winger has the ability to beat his man, carry the ball up the pitch and appears to have a decent finish on him as well. Just the kind of player Celtic need right now.
