Celtic are reportedly weighing up a move for the La Liga star in January as both Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas continue to struggle.

One of the weakest areas for Celtic this season has been between the posts. After Fraser Forster refused to return on another season-long loan from Southampton, the club decided to sign Greek international keeper Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens for transfer fee of around £4.5 million. It is safe to say that that is starting to look like a mistake.

Till now, Barkas has not looked like someone who can be a first-team goalkeeper for a club the size of Celtic. There have been rumours about his struggle to settle down in Scotland as well so it might be worth giving him some time to find his feet.

Unfortunately, Scott Bain is not someone who has looked much better either. Yes, he has saved two penalties but goals have continued to leak in. As a result, it might be worth going out for a new goalkeeper in January, especially with 10IAR on the line.

And that search might have the Hoops looking at Eibar star, Marko Dmitrovic, if Mark Wilson is to be believed. Speaking on The Celtic Huddle and as cited by 67 Hail Hail, he said:

"“Just on transfers – [a] transfer story that we’re hearing rumours about – [it is] well documented, the goalkeeper hasn’t covered himself in glory – Marko Dmitrovic, plays in La Liga with Eibar.“28-year-old Serbian internationalist, he’s out of contract in the summer. Would it be something that, if Neil’s still there, he’d be trying to tie that up in January?”"

Dmitrovic has been very impressive this season for Eibar, keeping 6 clean sheets in 12 La Liga appearances and has been one of the standout performers for a team who sit at 13th position. His contract runs out in the summer though and it might be a smart move on the part of Celtic to make a move in January.

There have also been rumours about another potential move for Forster as well. The Englishman has failed to make a single appearance for Southampton this season and might be more open to the idea of a return now than he was a few months back.

Conor Hazard’s performance against Lille also provides some hope to the Hoops. While it might be too early to come to any judgements about the youngster, if he manages to establish himself in the team over the next few weeks, the club might not even need to bring in a new keeper in January.
