‘Nonsense’ – Celtic star rubbishes worrying rumour

The Celtic star has come out and dismissed the worrying rumour that has been making the rounds over the past few months as the team continues to struggle.

It is safe to say that Celtic are in a world of trouble right now. Their 4-2 loss away at the San Siro last night against AC Milan was their third straight defeat and sixth in their last eleven games, a period in which they have managed just two wins.

At this point of time, the majority of the fans want Neil Lennon gone. It is undeniable what he has achieved for the club both as a player and a manager but it does not look like he is a capable of turning things around. And with 10IAR hanging by a thread, it is frustrating that the board has not taken the decision yet.

There have been suggestions recently that there has been a falling out behind the scenes and a number of players do not want to play for the manager anymore, which has been the reason behind their below-par performances. Nir Bitton though is adamant that that is not the case and the squad is fully behind Lennon.

Speaking with Sky Sports Scotland and as reported by Video Celts, the Israeli international said:

"“It’s nonsense what is being said on the outside. I have never heard anyone say they are not playing for the manager. We all have a good connection with him. At the end of the day, we play for ourselves, as well. We play for our pride, our families and for the fans.”"

To be honest, most fans would have gone into last night’s game expecting the Hoops to get hammered. As a result, them going 2-0 up inside the first 15 minutes and playing some scintillating football came as a huge surprise.

Ultimately, it was another disappointing night though as the Hoops went on to concede four straight goals as AC Milan walked out with a comfortable 4-2 victory by the end of the game. Unlike most recent games though, there were some positives to take from the performance.

For one, the Hoops looked very decent going forward at times. And even when the game looked done and dusted, they showed the desire to continue attacking. Unfortunately, that has not been the case in most games recently.

With Lennon still the manager, the best we can do now is hope that the Bhoys can use this performance as a launching pad to bring their season back on track, starting with the game against St. Johnstone on Sunday.
