Celtic fans were not impressed with the player’s display against AC Milan as they crumbled to a 4-2 defeat away at the San Siro.

It was the same old story once against for Celtic. The Hoops just can’t find a way to defend at the moment. In five Europa League group stage games, they have conceded 17 goals. No wonder they are out of the competition.

There were a few positives on the night. The Bhoys looked decent going forward and played some sensational football in the first 20 minutes. But then a game lasts 90 minutes and by the time the final whistle blew, AC Milan were comfortable winners. At least, it looked like they were trying tonight though, something that unfortunately cannot be said about all of their recent performances.

One man who Celtic fans were clearly not impressed with though is Vasilis Barkas. The Greek goalkeeper has failed to settle in since joining the club in the summer for a transfer fee of around €5 million.

The supporters vented their anger on Twitter throughout the game:

It is important to remember though that Barkas was not the club’s original target in the summer. The plan had always been to bring back Fraser Forster on another season-long loan from Southampton.

But when the Englishman refused to comeback, the club decided to go out and spend a significant amount of money to sign the Greek goalkeeper from AEK Athens. It is safe to say that the club are yet to see any significant return on that investment.

Now, it would be wrong to blame Barkas for all that is going wrong at the moment. The defence sitting in front of him appears to be terrible as well and looked like they were playing on ice every time the Milan attackers made a run at them. But then, the goalkeeper does not appear to an imposing figure either.

The fact of the matter is, a lot needs to change at the club. 2 wins in 11 games is just not good enough. Not for Celtic. Not for most clubs around the world. And while the board will have to wait till January to bring new players in, there is one decision that they need to make now.
