Gordon Strachan has hit out at a certain section of the Celtic fans as rumours continue to swirl about a potential Parkhead return.

Neil Lennon’s Celtic future is hanging by a thread at the moment. The Hoops have managed just two wins in their last ten games. As a result, they are already out of Europe as well as the Scottish League Cup and find themselves chasing the Rangers in the Premiership. Steven Gerrard’s side enjoy an eleven point cushion right now although they have played two games more than their Glasgow rivals.

The lowest point of the season was clearly the 2-0 defeat at home at the hands of Ross County last Sunday that knockout Celtic out of the League Cup, a competition they had won four straight times. Following the game, there were protests outside Parkhead calling for Lennon to be sacked and the board to resign.

If the manager is indeed shown the exit door, then one name who has been linked with the job is Gordon Strachan. He had a successful stint at the club, leading them to six trophies in his four seasons at Parkhead. But it does not look like he was too impressed with the recent protests.

Speaking with Football Pass, the former Scotland boss said:

"“60,000 people sing: ‘you’ll never walk alone.’“But at this moment in time there are a few hundred people making Neil Lennon feel like he is walking alone.“But over the last couple of days he’s realised he’s not walking alone.“His friends have gathered together to make sure he understands he doesn’t walk alone.“The Celtic fans who all understand what’s going on will make sure he understands that as well.”"

Now it is a matter of debate whether the fans would be happy with bringing Strachan back as manager. The opinion seems to be divided in that respect. But bookies have already made him the favourite for the job as it looks like it is only a matter of time before Lennon is given his marching orders.

These protests though have not helped at all. There is a growing belief that the only reason the manager has been retained despite the defeat against Ross County is because the board did not want to look like they were bowing down to the violent protestors. And they also must have made the recruitment process a lot more difficult.

They are already coming into a club where there will be the pressure to win every domestic game from hereon. And then there’s the pressure that 10IAR brings with it. It is not a mere coincidence that two teams in the past have failed to achieve it and the third seems to be wilting as well.
