The bad news keeps coming for Celtic as they have been hit with a fresh double injury blow ahead of their game against AC Milan.

Celtic have already been knocked out of the Europa League after managing just a solitary point from their first four group stage games. So when they take on AC Milan tomorrow away at the San Siro, it will only be a matter of pride for the Hoops. Although, one has to wonder though whether Neil Lennon’s future at the club is depending on the result as well.

Over their last 10 games in all competitions, they have managed just 2 wins. As a result, questions have quite rightfully been raised about the manager. And when the Hoops crashed out of the League Cup this weekend after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home at the hands of Ross County in the second round, it felt like there was no way back for Lennon. Yet, here we are and he still finds himself in a job.

He can’t avoid the sack for much longer though if results don’t improve. And the club’s recent injury worries have not been a help.

As reported by Celtic’s official Twitter, the manager confirmed that Mohamed Elyounoussi and Shane Duffy both have suffered fresh injuries:

"“Elyounoussi won’t travel. Duffy’s having his knee assessed, he picked up a knock today so we’ll see how he is. I’ll still put a strong team out and give some players some much needed game time as well.”"

Elyounoussi has been one of the few bright spots in this Celtic side over the past few weeks. At times, the Norwegian has looked like the only person capable of finding the back of the net. And as a result, he will be a big miss tomorrow. He had already scored against the Italian giants in the reverse fixture.

The story has been quite opposite for Duffy though. He was brought in on a season-long loan to solidify the defence but has fallen well short of that goal. Instead, at times he has looked like a mistake waiting to happen at the back. And at this point of time, he doesn’t appear to be in Lennon’s first-team plans anymore.

The fans will not be going into the game with a lot of expectations anyway. Judging by the club’s recent form and AC Milan’s resurgence this season, they will just be hoping that this doesn’t turn out to be a hammering like many pundits have predicted heading into the game.
