Bookies have named a new favourite for the Celtic job as it looks like only a matter of time before Neil Lennon gets sacked

Having managed just two wins from their past ten games in all competitions, it is clear that change is needed at Celtic. And while the players deserve a lot of the blame for their performances, Neil Lennon is the man most likely to pay the price for the club’s recent failures.

Yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at Parkhead against Ross County saw the Hoops get knocked out from the second round of the Scottish League Cup. They had won the competition four straight times before this.

It was easily the lowest point of the season and it does not look like there is a way back for Lennon anymore. This is very unfortunate though as he is a club legend and has served them well as both a player and a manager over the years. The board need to make the hard decision now though if they are to save this season and our hopes of securing a historic 10IAR.

Recent rumours suggest that crunch talks are set to be held within the next 48 hours. And Lennon getting is starting to look like the most likely outcome. If that does happen though, who are the club set to replace him with?

As reported by the Glasgow Times, Betfair’s odds suggest that Gordon Strachan is going to be that man. His odds have been slashed after the events over the past 24 hours and he is now the clear favourite. Former Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe, who was the favourite before this now finds himself in second spot. Two other names in the running seem to be Henrik Larsson and Roy Keane.

For the time being, all we can do is wait and see what the board’s next move is. One thing is clear though, things cannot continue like they have over the past few months.
