The recent report has dropped a bombshell about Neil Lennon’s Celtic future after the Hoops crashed out of the League Cup in the second round.

It is time to admit that things are not going to work out for Celtic as long as Neil Lennon is at the club. Without speculating what is going on behind the scenes, it is clear to see that the performances have shown no signs of improvement since they slumped to a defeat at Parkhead against the Rangers last month. In fact, they have gotten worse.

Thus, not sacking Lennon at this point is only pushing back the inevitable. But it had earlier appeared that that was exactly what the board were going to do as reports had claimed that they were going to give the manager to turn things around before the second Glasgow Derby of the season, scheduled to be held on 2nd January.

Of course, they could not have foreseen Ross County handing them a 2-0 defeat at Celtic Park to send them out of the Scottish League Cup in the second round itself. And if recent reports are to be believed, then that seems to be the straw that has broken the camel’s back.

According to The Scottish Sun, the board are set to hold crunch talks within the next 48 hours. And Lennon getting the sack is the most likely outcome at this point of time.

It is an absolute shame though how things are set to come to an end for Lennon at Celtic. He was an absolute legend as a player and then lead them to 5 league titles as a manager as well over two stints. And the protests last night from a certain section of the fans which turned violent only make it more tragic.

Now, we can only hope that if the reports are indeed true of him getting the sack then the board bring someone in who is capable of steadying the ship. With someone like Eddie Howe available as a free agent, they cannot gamble the fate of 10IAR by going for a ‘cheaper’ option.
