Neil Lennon has revealed what Dermot Desmond told him after Celtic’s defeat at the hands of Sparta Prague that saw them crash out of the Europa League.

With every defeat, the pressure is mounting on Neil Lennon. Over their last nine games, Celtic have managed just two wins. And in that period of time, they have scored 16 goals while conceding 21 and have managed to keep a solitary clean-sheet. Safe to say that everything that could have gone wrong, has gone wrong over the past few weeks.

As a result, Neil Lennon finds himself walking the managerial tightrope. Many fans will even argue that he should have been sacked long ago and the board have left it too late. Yet it looks like the manager will continue in his role for the foreseeable future.

While talking about their upcoming match against Ross County, the manager revealed that he held talks with Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell following the humiliating 4-1 defeat away against Sparta Prague. And the duo appear to be keeping their faith in Lennon to turn things around.

As reported by the club’s official Twitter, Lennon said:

"“We had a long chat after the game, and I had a long chat with Peter and Dermot today. We are totally united, together and determined to make this a good season.”"

At this point of time, this is sounding like a broken record. After every defeat, there are rumours that Desmond is set to arrive in Glasgow and anticipation builds up that the club are about to take a major decision. But then nothing comes of it and we continue in the same vein.

Yes, Lennon has delivered five league titles in the past but even then, there have always been questions about his ability as a manager. And judging by how the team has performed in recent weeks, one has to wonder whether some of the players have downed their tools already.

Bringing in a new manager could change things up and hopefully turn things around. And the board are playing a dangerous game here, especially with 10IAR hanging by a thread. Let’s just hope it pays off.
