Celtic chiefs have reportedly set a deadline before making a decision on the future of Neil Lennon as it looks like he’ll keep his job for a bit longer.

Celtic are currently in the middle of one of their worst runs of form in recent memory. They have just won two of their last nine games in all competitions. As a result, they find themselves chasing the Rangers in the Premiership.

Steven Gerrard’s side currently enjoy an eleven point lead, with the two games in hand being the Hoops’ only saving grace. And they are already out of the Europa League as well, having managed just a solitary point from their first four games in the competition.

Naturally, questions are being raised about Neil Lennon’s future at the club. Many believe that the manager needs to be sacked if the Hoops are to turn this disastrous season around while some argue that we have already left it too late.

It does not look like the board will rush into any decision though. As reported by the Football Insider, it is unlikely that Lennon will be shown the exit door before the Glasgow Derby away at Ibrox on 2nd January.

Now, there have always been questions about his ability to manage a club of this size. Many will point towards the side’s performances against the Rangers over the past two seasons. It is undeniable that the Hoops have been completely outplayed in the last three derbies and had Fraser Forster to thank for pulling out a win from the jaws of defeat in the Scottish League Cup Final last season.

But if the board have indeed decided that they will not be taking any decision on Lennon’s future before 2nd January then we must get behind him till then. We might have varying feelings about him but all of us want Celtic to secure 10IAR. A divided fanbase will not make that quest any easier. Keep the faith.
