Two more managers’ names have been put into the hat as possible replacements for Neil Lennon as his job at Celtic hangs by a thread.
Even the most optimistic Neil Lennon supporter would agree that at this point, it looks like he is destined for the sack. Things have just not worked out for Celtic this season. And with just two wins from their last nine games, many would even argue that he should have already been shown the exit door.
Obviously, the players deserve their fair share of the blame too. Lennon cannot get on the pitch and play on their behalf. But one has to wonder whether there is more to this than we are being told, as it certainly does look like a number of them have downed their tools. If that is indeed the case then the club could be left with no option but to get rid of the manager.
The names of Eddie Howe, Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill have been touted as possible replacements. Some have been even mentioned Gordon Strachan. And there are a couple of names that we can add to that quickly expanding list.
As cited by Video Celts, popular podcast Celtic State of Mind have named Michael Laudrup and Mark Hughes. Both managers have been without a club since 2018.

Hughes has had an extensive career in the Premier League, having managed teams like Manchester City, Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Southampton. On top of that, he also played for the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Everton during an illustrious career. He has never won a trophy as a manager though.
On the other hand, Laudrup’s managerial career has not been as extensive at the very top level. In this aspect, his biggest achievement was winning the League Cup with Swansea City, certainly an impressive feat. He needs no introduction as a player though as he played for the likes of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Ajax.
In both cases, we have incredible players. But there will undoubtedly be questions regarding their ability to lead a side to a title as manager. And that is what Celtic need someone to do right now.
