Neil Lennon snaps when asked about Celtic future

Neil Lennon must surely be frustrated with the recent Celtic performances and did not appear too happy when asked about his future at the club.

Two wins in nine games is not good enough for most clubs in the world, let alone Celtic. Yet Neil Lennon still finds himself as the manager of the club as the board have kept their faith in him to turn things around. Unfortunately, it does not look like that is going to be the case.

He can claim all he wants about improving performances and bad luck, in reality we are perhaps taking a step back. Sparta Prague have won just two of their last six games. Guess who those two games were against? In fact, they beat us convincingly on both occasions.

Thus, it goes without saying that Lennon’s job is hanging by a thread at the moment. And it looks like the manager is growing increasingly frustrated when questioned about his Parkhead future.

As reported by the Daily Record, when asked if the defeat had had any effect on his future at the club by a BT Sport reporter, the Celtic manager replied:

"“I don’t know why you’re asking me that when we only touched on it yesterday.“I don’t see any reason why one game and one day would change that. No.”"

It would have been much more pleasant if this was just a solitary defeat. But that is not the case unfortunately. The losses have been piling up and this was their fourth defeat in a little over a month.

At this point, one has to question whether there has been a failing out behind the scenes with  some of the players, because at times it does look like a few of them have downed their tools while a few more are just incapable of getting the job done.

The signs have been there for a long time now. The performances have never been impressive this season, even when the side were winning consistently earlier. When they started losing, the media decided to pick out certain players and made them scapegoats. A number of them are not playing anymore though and the results have not improved an iota. And it is starting to look like the issues lie much deeper than a few underperforming  players.
