This could be quite a divisive period at Celtic so it’s very interesting to see the players endorsing Neil Lennon as the hoops manager.

We’ve all seen and heard many views that Lennon is no longer the right man for the Celtic job. Views and feelings have been strong and very widely spread across social media. It is quite easy to state your views publicly these days, whether right or wrong, based on fact or just supposition or rumour.

Some blogs and media articles have backed Lennon, with his old manager Martin O’Neill being one of the latest to speak up for him.

On the other hand we’ve seen fans sharing their opinion with a very cutting banner by the Green Brigade visible outside Parkhead. As reported by the Daily Record, the banner reads:

"“Save the ten – time to go Neil”."

All sorts of stories persist beyond the fans’ view such as where Dermot Desmond is, who Peter Lawwell has been golfing with recently and as far as the players are concerned, they’ve featured highly too. Talks of Lennon having lost the dressing room continue too. But is there any truth to them? It’s hard to judge but we have now some evidence from within the squad.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has been talking to the media. He’s got firm views and shared the thoughts from the dressing room. Broony talks confidently as also reported in Herald Scotland about what the players are thinking about the situation and banner”

"“I think in today’s age it is all social media, a picture for Instagram or Twitter or whatever.“We have 100 per cent faith in the manager.“The support that we have had through the nine in a row has been incredible.“I think now is the time we all come together. The fans have been fantastic for us for the last nine season and this is the time we all stick together.“We’re pushing for something special. We need to make sure that we are all together.“Everyone in that changing room is working extremely hard to get better.“We know that performances haven’t been up to scratch and now we have to fix it and we need to make sure we fix extremely quickly because the manager and backroom staff have been working extremely hard.“We have to go on the park and whoever the 11 is, make sure we do the exact same.”"

It’s ok saying that. But words don’t always make a big difference. It may be 100% correct that Lennon has the backing of the squad and some significant fan support too. But there needs to be positive changes to make a real difference.

The players have to turn the support into action, performance improvement rather than just talking earnestly. The game against Sparta Prague is the next opportunity to make a difference and ensure it’s not Lennon’s final chance.
