Si Ferry makes worrying claim about Celtic’s training method

Si Ferry has made a worrying claim about Celtic’s training method as the Hoops continue to struggle this season despite 10IAR being on the line.

It is no secret that Celtic are going through their worst phase of form in recent memory at this point of time. In their last eight games in all competitions, the Hoops have managed just two wins. And they already find themselves chasing the Rangers in the Premiership table. Steven Gerrard’s side currently have an eleven point lead although they have played two games more than their Glasgow rivals.

There are major questions surrounding Neil Lennon’s future at the club though. With 10IAR on the line, this was the season when they needed a great start but have come out of the gates stumbling. Naturally, fingers have been pointed towards the manager.

And now Si Ferry, who is the host of the Open Goal, has claimed that the club continue to use Brendan Rodgers’ training methods despite him being gone for the club for almost two years.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Ferry told Go Radio:

"He went back to his old ways but it seems to me again it’s back to the Brendan Rodgers style.“I know they still do Brendan Rodgers training, which worries me.“If you’re the manager you can’t be doing someone else’s thing you need to do what you want to do.“If he’s going to go out, he needs to do it in his own way.“Whether he’s doing that or not with the people that are behind him I don’t know.”"

Obviously, Lennon is aided in this by John Kennedy, he was the first team coach during Brendan Rodgers’ spell as well. But one would expect the Celtic manager to have a hands on approach to things.

There have always been questions about his credentials as a manager despite him winning one trophy after the other. And now with his side struggling, with just two wins from their last eight games, those questions are only going to be magnified.

For the time being, it looks like the Celtic board have decided to keep their faith in Lennon. But one has to wonder how long that will continue if things don’t improve quickly. Many will even argue that the board have already left things too late.

One thing is for sure though, Lennon is walking the managerial tightrope right now. And it will not take a lot to push him over the edge.
