The Rangers youngster has called out some of the Ibrox club’s supporters for abusing his family online over a game of FIFA.

It is a part of the game that the authorities have tried to kick out for decades, yet it has somehow persisted and rears its ugly head at times. The latest victim being Rangers’ 19-year-old striker Dapo Mebude.

Mebude has represented the Scottish national team at multiple youth levels and made his debut for the Rangers back in 2019. He has not found much playing time since then though but has managed to make the headlines after revealing that his family had been on the receiving end of racial abuse from some of the Ibrox club’s supporters over a game of FIFA.

Now, most of the people provided their support to the youngster while a few of them even decided to question whether those in the wrong were actually Rangers fans. That is the wrong way to look at things though when the first thing that you do in this situation is try to find a way to defend your club.

There is no place for racism in football or anywhere and we must continue to work hard to put an end to it for good. It does not matter what club they support. Whoever does it is wrong and must be dealt with. It is disheartening to see such stories crop up from time to time all over the world. This is not just a problem that is exclusive to Scottish football.

Let’s hope that an investigation will take place regarding the situation with Mebude and those in the wrong are dealt with.
