Now that’s what we want to hear from a Celtic striker after a dry period in front of goal. Let him loose on Hibernian and the rest please.

In his first couple of matches for the Hoops, Swiss international Albian Ajeti made a roaring start. He showed his prowess as a striker with a series of goals and looked ready for even more. And we have seen his ability to create assists for others and to open up space in the box for himself or others with some great runs off the ball or swift passing movements.

In discussion with Celtic media as reported on the club site, Ajeti explains how he sees things playing for the club. He talks about clearly understanding the way Celtic play and press high during matches. He has already demonstrated his abilities as a penalty box striker with the goals that he has scored till now. But more is likely to come as he settles in even more and gets into right positions during matches.

The Swiss international said:

"“Some of the things are natural. You smell it in the air that the ball might fall in a certain place and you make a move. You have to be ready and focused to make the most of the chances. You learn from playing games as well so the experience is important too. There’s a lot more to it than that.“I’ve been working on my body to start strong and with the years of experience you know how to use your body and that’s quite important.”"

So far so good, the smell of success and being in the right place at the right time will come together nicely. At a time when the team have been struggling for wins, a goal hungry striker in form is very much needed. Ajeti sounds as if he is quickly getting back into that position:

"“The players in the team know me better now and they know I’m very hungry and very ambitious to score more, assist more and work more.“It’s what I love to do, it’s my passion.“I should try to not let it bother me because you can’t score in every game but I have that much fire in myself that I want to score in every game.“I feel I can be important for the team in link-up and hold-up play. I didn’t score in the last game but I got a couple of assists, which was very important.”"

And of course he started well in the home game against Hibs recently, scoring a nice goal just before limping off with a hamstring injury which he is still in the process of getting back to match fitness from. Ajeti recalls that well:

"“We played well in the last match against Hibernian and we’ll be confident of putting on a good performance again.“The only thing is, I want to play for longer than 30 minutes and not get injured.”"

That sounds perfectly reasonable, It’s good to see the desire to play and win. Let’s see how Ajeti gets used on Saturday. It could be a close and interesting match, and we may need him to find the back of the net once again.
