Celtic have confirmed the Glasgow Derby fixture in what will be a game that is expected to have huge implications on the club’s season.

It is safe to say that playing football in the middle of a global pandemic is complete chaos and things can change any time. That is just something we have come to accept through the course of the season as a number of games have been forced to be postponed due to one reason or the other, with Celtic being one of the worst sufferers.

As things stand though the Hoops are set to travel to Ibrox on January 2nd in order to take on the Rangers in the Premiership. The club’s SLO has confirmed the same on Twitter:

Although a number of these Derby games are often moved to Sunday, it looks like that the SFA is going to go ahead with a Saturday afternoon kick-off in what promises to be one of the most important games of the season.

Celtic have a lot of catching up to do. Due to their earlier games being postponed, they have played two games less than the Rangers, who are leading the league by 9 points right now. And by the game that the January 2nd games rolls around, they will have have played three games more than their Glasgow rivals who have a Scottish Cup Final to play on December 20th.

The Hoops need to rediscover their form quickly and hope that Steven Gerrard’s side slip up like they have in the previous two seasons after good starts. In case they manage to hold on to their form and Neil Lennon’s side find their touch as well, this Derby is going to be even more important as the title could very well be decided by the results in these games.
