We’ve mentioned before that the return of a player to first team and top form really can be like a new signing. The Celtic management team are seeing that now as well.

It’s been a slow way back into the first-team this season for Celtic’s Tom Rogic. He missed a lot of the previous season and has been gradually working his way into both form and selection over recent games. The Australian is now in a good run of starting games again, and we are all seeing the difference that makes on the pitch.

Over the last few games his assists for goals has been significant. He has assisted five goals in his last five appearances, it’s definitely helpful to be making those slide passes, deft touches or crosses when the team have been struggling to create goal scoring chances.

Celtic fans have been loud in their approval of Rogic’s contribution and the difference he has made since coming back in. Now, based on John Kennedy’s thoughts, we can see what the management team are thinking and feeling about his performances. The Daily Record report Kennedy’s views:

"“In this last period he’s been absolutely outstanding. He gives the team something different with his creativity and the way he sees the game.“It’s been great to have him fit, he’s feeling confident, feeling strong and long may that continue because he’s a very important player for us.”"

When referring to the ‘last period’ that will include Rogic’s two assists when he again ran riot in a Scottish Cup tie at Hampden against Aberdeen. As welcome as his return to form is to Celtic, you can be sure it’ll have regrets from the Dons, against whom he has made a habit of turning in goals, assists and strong performances.

With Celtic having hit a rough patch on form and results, getting Rogic back does feel like a new signing. Kennedy’s comments indicate that view is supported by the management team at Parkhead and suggest that we can expect to see even more of The Australian over the coming matches.

And hopefully during that time, the other players find their form as well as the Hoops already find themselves chasing the Rangers with 10IAR on the line.
