Music superstar Liam Gallagher sent a message to the Celtic man after Scotland created history by qualifying for EURO 2020.

Scotland created history last night by beating Serbia on penalties to qualify for EURO 2020 (yes, we know it will be played in 2021). This is the first major tournament that the national team has managed to qualify for in over 20 years and last night was easily there biggest in a couple of generations. As expected, Celtic players had a big hand in the effort.

Ryan Christie opened the scoring for Scotland with a brilliant strike in the 52nd minute. And for the most part, it looked like that would be enough before Luka Jovic ended up equalising for the Serbs in the 90th minute.

The players managed to hold on to their nerves in the penalty shootout though, putting away all of their five penalties. Hoops duo Leigh Griffiths and Callum McGregor were two of them. As a result, David Marshall saving Aleksandar Mitrovic’s final penalty was enough to create history.

At the start of the week, nobody would have expected lifelong Manchester City fan Liam Gallagher to wax lyrical about a Celtic player but that is exactly what happened as the Oasis superstar seemed impressed with Ryan Christie:

That’s the perk of success on the international stage. Hopefully the Hoops stars in the Scotland team can use this massive achievement as a boost to up their game for their club as well.

Celtic have struggled this season, currently finding themselves chasing the Rangers in the Premiership and on the brink of elimination from the Europa League. Hopefully that changes after the international break though. And we’d be hoping to see Griffiths, McGregor, Christie and Taylor kick on, as all four where in the Scottish squad.

The Hoops will be hoping to make their own history at the end of the season as well, winning a historical 10th straight Scottish league title, something that has never been achieved.
