Leigh Griffiths makes exciting claim about Celtic future
By StevieMac
He’s got almost as many lives at Celtic as a lucky black cat, Leigh Griffiths is in the midst of yet another powerful comeback in the Hoops. And he wants to play his part in securing even more success at the club. What’s not to like about that for Celtic fans!
Leigh Griffiths was possibly the one and only bright spot from that horrible Sparta Prague defeat, when he came on as a substitute after an hour we had some hope. When he scored quickly, it actually felt like Celtic might even go on and get something out of the game. He made a real difference at that point and the eventual slump to a 1-4 result can’t be laid at his door.
Fitness issues, home life controversy, dropped from the squad that went to France pre season, struggling to get games and match sharpness all dogged his early days this season. But when given his chance he’s netted some great goals and at times turned matches around or into wins. Coming on late for example against St Johnstone and scoring was another bright spot to raise the hopes of fans.
Some supporters had seen enough of Griffiths in the summer and felt he should leave. Minds have changed and the player has once again worked hard to earn respect and his place on the bench and perhaps soon in the starting line up. The Daily Record reported on Griffiths speaking with Celtic View where he talked about getting sharper by playing:
"“You always want to be part of things and as long as I can keep getting game time then my match sharpness will come back as quickly as it went away.“I just want to keep getting minutes on the pitch and keep working hard and keep those numbers up.”"

He’s back in the popularity ratings as well as adding to his incredible goal scoring record. His tally of 118 Celtic goals, including the one against Sparta Prague, takes him into the top 20 Hoops scorers, which is pretty impressive company to be in:
"“Getting that goal, getting into the top 20 scorers at Celtic, is a massive achievement for myself. Now, it’s just about trying to kick on and perhaps see how many places I can climb up that list.”"
Griffiths wants more. Goals and success through winning trophies. He’s got an eye on the prize that is another Scottish Cup winners medal if selected and if the Hoops can overcome Hearts in the December final:
"“We want to go and win that trophy for the fourth time on the bounce, and what better way to do that than to win a quadruple treble?“It’s five days before Christmas and what a way to celebrate Christmas early than with a Scottish Cup winner’s medal. That said, we’ve got plenty of big games between now and then, and we’re focused on trying to win every one of those.”"
Griffiths seems to be on fire for goals even while still not at full fitness. If that’s what he can do while sharpening up, then let’s get that game time sorted and give him the opportunity to shoot his way further up that list.
