Celtic’s injury worries do not seem like ending anytime soon as one of their stars has been confirmed to be out of action for 6-8 weeks, at least.

Celtic have a lot of worries at the moment. The Hoops have just managed to win two of their last seven games and are in the midst of one of their worst runs in recent memory. As a result, Neil Lennon will be keen to use this international break as an opportunity to recharge his team’s batteries and come out of it firing on all cylinders, something they have not done yet this season.

He is not certainly being helped by the club’s injury woes though. A number of players have suffered with fitness issues through the course of the season which has been one of the major factors in their poor form lately. And that looks set to continue.

One area where the Hoops do not have much back up in right now is on the wings and it looks like that will be the case for the foreseeable future. Neil Lennon has confirmed that James Forrest is set to be out for 6-8 weeks more at least, possibly even more.

As reported by Daily Record, the manager said:

"“His foot was in a pot, a boot, for the last couple of weeks but when it came out of the boot there was no significant improvement, in fact it was getting worse.“So he went to see a specialist and he recommended the surgery being done, and it was done yesterday.“We think it has been a success but we are looking at quite a considerable time out still.“Best-case scenario is probably six to eight weeks – but it may be longer than that. We will see how he settles after the surgery.”"

Despite being criticised in recent months for his performances, there is no denying that Forrest is a huge part of this team and has been one of their most consistent performers for years. And in the current 4-2-3-1 that Neil Lennon is using, he was almost a guarantee to start.

The revival of Tom Rogic has certainly helped the team in that aspect as it has allowed Ryan Christie to move out to the right and fill in for the injured winger. But that is certainly not ideal and an injury to either of the two will leave Lennon scrambling for back up options.

Hopefully, Forrest’s issue will not get any worse and he is back on the pitch as soon as possible. Players out is not something that Celtic cannot afford at this point, especially when it comes to players like him who have a big part to play in this team.
