Neil Lennon has responded to rumours of Dermot Desmond being in Glasgow and his possible sacking as a result of Celtic’s poor form.

It is no secret that Neil Lennon is walking the managerial tight rope right now. With 10IAR on the line, Celtic have made a terrible start and need to make an immediate improvement if they are to bring things back on track.

Obviously, the team’s bad start has also meant that there have been rumours about the manager getting sacked. And fuel was added to those flames after Celtic’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of Sparta Prague after it emerged that Dermot Desmond was in Glasgow.

Of course, some fans tried to put two and two together and came to the conclusion that Neil Lennon was about to get the sack. But as it turns out, the truth might be a bit different.

As reported by the Daily Record, Neil Lennon responded to those rumours by saying:

"“I’ve spoken to Dermot since Thursday, but it was a private conversation.“I speak to him twice a week, so it was no different to any other week.”"

That might be the case but Lennon has to know that he is not far from actually getting shown the exit door if the team’s performances don’t improve drastically.

Today’s 4-1 win over Motherwell is a good starting point though. A Mohamed Elyounoussi hattrick and a late Olivier Ntcham goal was enough to see the opposition away. And although it was not a classic Celtic performance were they swept them completely away, it was as good as it has gotten over the past several weeks.

Now it is important that the club build on this victory. The international break should serve as a chance to take a look over things and try to fix them before starting fresh once again. While they might already be chasing the Rangers, there is still a long way to go in the league.
