Celtic fans have reacted to Chris Sutton after he revealed that he had had a phone call with Leigh Griffiths. which has landed him in some controversy.

Following their terrible performances since the return from the international break which has seen them win just one of their last six games, naturally both the Celtic players and manager has come under some criticism.

And while none of the players have done particularly well, Leigh Griffiths has looked the most potent of the four strikers Neil Lennon has at his disposal over these past few weeks. Odsonne Edouard has never quite hit form this season while Albian Ajeti has faded away after a promising start to life at Parkhead. On the other hand, Klimala just does not look good enough to be a starter.

Even then, Griffiths came under some criticism from Chris Sutton following their 4-1 defeat at the hands of a Sparta Prague side which had not won a game of football in over a month due to the result of their league being suspended and them losing their first two Europa League ties. Interestingly, the striker scored the Hoops’ solitary goal on the night.

Sutton later revealed that he had received a phone call from Griffiths while speaking on BT Sport 2 and as reported by 67 Hail Hail:

"“I’m not going to divulge. It’s a private conversation.“It’s a crime when you have that much talent and you can’t be bothered. And that’s what’s happened.“My advice to Leigh would be to do his talking on the pitch.”"

Many Celtic fans believe though that the striker has been unfairly targeted. And they let their feelings be known on Twitter:

Whatever may be the case, it is clear that by now that Neil Lennon might not have a lot of time left in the Celtic manager’s hot seat if the club’s results don’t improve drastically. The defeat against Sparta Prague was their third consecutive at home, the first time that that has happened in 30 years.

Names are already being thrown about in the media about his possible replacements. And some of them are pretty enticing.

Of course, the best case scenario would be for Lennon to help his side rediscover their best form. He has already won multiple league titles and knows the club like the back of his hand. It is always ask for a new manager to come in and produced immediate results, especially in the middle of the season.
