The veteran reported blasted Celtic’s display in the Europa League where they lost 4-1 to a Sparta Prague side who had lost both of their previous games.

Just when it had looked like things were looking up for Celtic, they took a terrible turn. And to be honest, last night was probably the worst they have looked in this run of 6 games following the international break in which they have managed a paltry single win.

It is important to take into consideration that this was a Sparta Prague side that was struggling coming into this game. They have not played a league game in over a month and lost their first two Europa League games by conceding 7 goals and scoring just 1 in return.

It is safe to say that The Hoops have taken considerable steps back this season. This is the same team that beat Lazio in both group ties last season while also getting a win and a draw against a Rennes team that finished third in Ligue 1.

And veteran sports writer Brian McNally has described their performance as the most ‘spineless’ and ‘shameful’ he has seen in many decades.

While fans would like to take positives from the game, truth be told, there are very few. And that has been the case lately. One win in six games is one of the worst runs in recent memory.

The board cannot be blamed for their lack of transfer activity this time around as they brought in five new faces this time around. And yet, it looks like the team is worse than it was last season. Perhaps it is the pressure of 10IAR that is getting to them or just a general lack of form in players who were flying this time around a year ago.

Whatever may be the case, it is clear that Neil Lennon quickly needs a way to get the season back on track. Or it might not be long before he is shown the exit door. The clock must already be ticking down and there is not a lot of time left.
