The former Premier League manager has been named as the favourite for the Celtic job as Neil Lennon’s side continues to struggle.

Celtic have been in one of the club’s worst runs of form in recent memory. Since the international break, they have only managed one win, three defeats and a couple of draws. Not good enough for the Hoops by any stretch of the imagination. And while the players deserve their fair share of the blame as well, there is a growing feeling that Neil Lennon is set to be shown the exit door.

This has divided the club’s fanbase to a certain extent. Some of the fans believe that Neil Lennon deserves more time to get the season back on track. Others are of the belief that this is not a season to wait and watch with 10IAR up for grabs and the club must take a hard decision as soon as possible.

And if Lennon does end up getting sacked, Eddie Howe looks like the man most likely to take over from him at Parkhead. As reported by The Scotsman, Betfair has named him the favourite:

"Former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is the 11/10 favourite to replace Neil Lennon as Celtic boss with increasing calls from fans for a change with the club nine points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership and flailing in Europe."

Eddie Howe did a brilliant job as manager of Bournemouth, taking them from League One to the Premier League. But ultimately, they ended up getting relegated last season after spending five years in England’s top division. He did a better job than most would have expected him to though and he is still one of the most highly-rated managers around.

If Celtic do manage to get him then it would be a major acquisition. He was on a fee reported to be around £4 million per year at Bournemouth but as we have seen with Brendan Rodgers in the past, the club has the pull to make managers take a pay cut if required.

Of course, for now Neil Lennon is the man in the job and we have to back him till he is at the club. He has done a brilliant job at Parkhead both as a player and a manager through the course of his career, but if things don’t improve quickly, it might be time to part ways.
