Celtic might have the chance to sign Diego Laxalt from AC Milan on a permanent basis for a massive bargain if recent reports are true.

Diego Laxalt might not have been at Celtic for a long time but he has already shown the qualities that he brings to this side. Left-back had become a position of concern for the Hoops since the departure of Kieran Tierney with neither Boli Bolingoli nor Greg Taylor managing to make the position their own through the course of last season.

Laxalt has just come in and already it is pretty clear that barring injuries, he will be the starting left-back this season. He has been one of the best players at the club since moving to Parkhead despite them going through a rough patch of form. And Celtic might already be looking for ways to sign him on a permanent basis.

While there have been fears that the Hoops might be priced out of a deal. But if recent reports are to be believed, then Laxalt might very well be in their price range.

Football Insider is reporting that AC Milan’s valuation of the Uruguayan might not be as high as first believed:

"A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Milan value Laxalt at around the £4.5m mark ahead of the January window."

AC Milan had signed Laxalt for around £13 million in 2018 but he has failed to make an impact at the Italian giants. And with his contract quickly running down, they might be forced to let him go for a bargain price.

This might be Celtic’s opportunity to sign. Even though he has not been at the club for a significant amount of time, he has already proved that he can be a first-team star for them. And it will be a shrewd business move for them if they can actually get him for the price that has been touted by the media.

At this point of time, we cannot get too far ahead of ourselves though. The Hoops need to get back in form as they have struggled in recent weeks, winning just one of their last five games. When they do take care of their on-field issues, they can think about tying down Laxalt on a permanent basis.
