There is finally some good news for Celtic as the player has confirmed on his social media that he is finally set to return to Glasgow.

The past few weeks have been a nightmare for Celtic fans. First, there was the international break which ended up ruling out a number of players either due to contracting the virus or being in contact with people who had done so.

As a result, the squad has been left significantly weakened. That cannot be an excuse for the lifeless and mistake filled performances that they have put on the pitch though.

The Rangers handed them a 2-0 loss in their own backyard in a Glasgow Derby where it looked like they were not ready to even fight for a result. The second was an improved performance against AC Milan in the Europa League but that too ended in a 3-1 defeat. And today, they must have been crushed to concede a 91st minute penalty to drop two more points in a 3-3 draw away at Aberdeen.

The biggest worry in these performances has perhaps been the side’s defence. Shane Duffy was expected to storm through the Premiership but instead he is starting to look like a worry who is set to be dropped to the bench if his performances do not improve.

At this stage, the return of Hatem Abd Elhamed could be a major boost. Capable of playing at both centre-back and right-back, he is a great player to have in the team.

The Israel international had tested positive while away on international duty. But his self-isolation period is finally over and he is finally returning to Glasgow to catch up with the team. He posted an image of himself travelling back on his Instagram story earlier. Celtic will also be looking forward getting back his teammate Nir Bitton as well.

Bitton had put in solid performances at the back before being ruled out due to his injury and subsequent positive test. A bit of solidity at the back is just what we need at the moment after conceding 8 goals in the past 3 games.
