The Celtic youngster is away on loan at the Championship club and has started his career there in the best way possible.

Celtic have had their issues this season. Back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Rangers and AC Milan have left them in a sticky spot going into Sunday’s Premiership game against Aberdeen. Anything other than all three points could end up creating a significant gap between the Hoops and the top of the table. Thus, it is quite clear that Neil Lennon is walking the managerial tightrope at the moment.

One man seems to be enjoying life away on loan. Jonathan Afolabi joined Celtic after he was let go of by Southampton. And while he is yet to make his debut for the Hoops, he seems to be making his mark away on loan.

He had joined Dunfermline Athletic in January but that was cut short prematurely due to the global pandemic. He did score 2 goals for them in just 6 appearances though. And it looks he has picked up right were he left off in the Championship. This time at Dundee.

Afolabi impressed after coming off the bench against Hearts and as a result got a start against Greenock Morton. And it did not take him long to make his mark, volleying home the winner just four minutes into the game, earning himself the man of the match award.

One of the biggest problems they have had this season is scoring. Over the past two games, they have conceded five while only managing to score a solitary goal in return, that is simply not good enough.

A lot of that is down to the injuries suffered by the strikers through the course of the season. Leigh Griffiths has barely featured due to his fitness issues. Albian Ajeti has impressed in spurts but it is arguable that he has never been 100%. Patryk Klimala has been mostly fit but he just does not seem like a man who can consistently lead the frontline.

Odsonne Edouard has suffered from a combination of injuries, a positive test and a general lack of form. And we can only hope that he can find his feet as soon as possible.
