Craig Gordon makes plea to Celtic fans after Rangers defeat
Craig Gordon has made a plea to the Celtic fans after the club’s disastrous defeat at the hands of the Rangers at home in the Glasgow Derby.
Craig Gordon spent six magnificent seasons at Celtic, winning a number of trophies and even the SFWA Footballer of the Year during that period of time. As a result, he will know a lot about what it takes to succeed under the sticks at Parkhead.
One man who has come under fire over the past week is new Hoops goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas. The Greek international joined the club earlier in the summer for a transfer fee reported to be around £4.5 million. And while he has not done terribly at all, his performance against the Rangers left a lot to be desired.
Football is a game where opinions about someone can change very quickly and that has appeared to be the case with Barkas as well. Craig Gordon has asked the fans to be patient though and believes that the Greek keeper will come good eventually.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:
"“It was always going to be difficult for anyone to go into the team in a season of this magnitude, let alone a keeper coming to a new country.“He needs to settle in and get used to his new surroundings, team-mates and coaching methods. It’s tough.“I’m sure he’ll come good with the attributes that he has and the places that he’s played. He’s got a number of international caps, so he’s got experience.”"

One of the biggest issues with this team appears to be the fact that they are yet to gel together. That is understandable though considering the number of new players that arrived during the course of the summer.
Considering the importance of the season though, the fans will be hoping that they manage to do it soon. 10IAR is on the line and this is not a transitional season when we can give these players a lot of time to get used to the Scottish game.
To be very honest, Barkas has not been a bad keeper at all since he joined. He does not have the experience to just seamlessly make the transition like Forster did. And it is arguable that most Celtic fans were happy with his performances for the club until last Saturday. But that’s just part of the game. Let’s keep the faith.
