After countless rumours, a new report claims that Celtic actually rejected a bid for Odsonne Edouard from a Bundesliga side.

According to the Daily Record, a new report via the Athletic claims that Celtic’s star forward Odsonne Edouard was the subject of only one official transfer bid over the summer window. If true, this would be quite the shock as the striker was continually linked with rumoured moves across Europe through the course of the summer.

While the report claims multiple clubs had made inquiries, it mentions that only one official offer was made, from an unnamed Bundesliga club. There were clubs listed as interested including English Premier League sides Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old striker, who has four goals in seven league matches thus far, was rumored as the subject of transfer pursuits from a plethora of clubs over the summer including Arsenal, surely giving Hoops fans fits as the player was integral to the club’s success last season.

Despite missing two weeks due to a positive test stemming from the international break, Edouard should be available in the coming week, though potentially not quite ready for the Europa League glamour tie against AC Milan on Thursday.

With the club’s struggles thus far finding goals, including their 2-0 loss to the Rangers this weekend, Neil Lennon’s side could definitely use Edouard finding his scoring rhythm again once he returns to the pitch. He has not been at the top of his game this season but we all know how devastating he can be on his day.

After being injured for a week earlier in the season and missing two matches as well as the recent positive test, Edouard should return with quite the bit of rest, hopefully helping him keep fit for quite some time. Although, the fact that he has trained for a few weeks now could hinder things as well.
