There’s plenty to focus on for Celtic in the aftermath of the uninspiring loss at home against the Rangers. Neil Lennon spoke out about his disgust at a feature of that and recent Celtic games. And a Lisbon Lion added his concerns online too.

It’s been a feature for some time now that accurate team line ups would be revealed anywhere from 24 to a few hours before games. Often accurate with unusual line ups unlikely to be guesses, it’s been clear someone at the club is leaking details.

It’s happened over the years at times but seems to be returning again as a feature. That’s not a reason for the loss on Saturday, there are other priorities to fix in the team after that game, but it’s still a problem that needs tackling.

The leak often appears the evening before the match and races around social media. The line up against the Rangers did emerge on Friday evening too, with a further round of the team sheet appearing during Saturday morning, still well before the 11.15 a.m. point when the club published the team sheet officially.

More from The Celtic Bhoys

As reported on Glasgow Live Neil Lennon spoke out angrily about the leaking of team news and his disgust at this happening. His annoyance was very likely exacerbated by the poor performance and result, but you wouldn’t want to be the person involved if he finds out who leaked it:

"“It’s not great. Somebody within the club is doing us in and it’s disgusting I think.“We will try (to get to the bottom of it). We will work at it but it’s very disappointing.“Of course it makes my job more difficult. I keep talking about a sense of privacy around our club but it doesn’t seem to be the case with some people and it’s very, very disappointing.”"

Celtic fans had much to be annoyed about today too, but they also flagged their disapproval of whoever is leaking the team. They included John Fallon amongst their ranks, John describes himself on his Twitter profile as ex goalkeeper Celtic 1958/72, unused goalie 67. So he knows a thing or two.

The Hoops are going to need all the help they can get this season. There is plenty to fix in terms of selection and performance. Let’s not have Celtic people leaking information and line ups on top of that. Social media is hungry for information, but we can all choose what to feed it with.
