We’re now well into the build up for Saturday’s Glasgow Derby and Scott Brown has spoken out about the game and the Celtic team’s approach to it.

This is always a big game, it’s possibly even bigger in this potentially momentous season. It’s a real six pointer in Celtic’s quest for ten-in-a-row. Although it’s worth being clear that whatever the result there are still plenty more games to be played, unless the pandemic goes out of hand.

It’s also going to be quite different this season. The impact of reduced away fans at these fixtures last year changed the dynamic and noise inside Parkhead and Ibrox to some extent. It’s an even bigger difference with zero crowd.

In an interview for the official match programme, via the club site, Celtic captain Scott Brown talked about the crowd factor and the preparations. He did acknowledge that it was going to be different with no crowd at Parkhead, but Broony did emphasise that he and the rest of the team were going all out to make themselves heard on the pitch and turn in a performance for the fans watching on TV.

Broony was clear on the usual, just another game philosophy applying when he spoke:

"“Nothing changes for us in the way that we prepare, the way we analyse, the way we set up, because this is another game that we want to win.“Our organisation behind the scenes is similar for every game and as players we can’t infer that one game is bigger than any other, because every game is massive at a club like Celtic. Every game won gets us three points, and every three points is huge for us.“That said, on the day, it’s a good game to play in. It’s just sad that there’s no fans at this point. The fans always give you that extra push, especially in these games, but we just need to play in the same way which we have without them.”"

Although he has talked about how he  and the players want to treat it like any other match, Broony did reflect on some differences in the squad with leaders like himself and Callum McGregor having experienced these games before and then new team mates like Shane Duffy helping make an impact on the game:

More from The Celtic Bhoys

"“People like myself, who know the fixture well, and even people like Shane Duffy, who hasn’t played in one yet but knows what it’s about, we need to make ourselves heard. Shane wanted to be here, he wanted to play in these games, and it’s a great opportunity for him. Pulling on that jersey means the world to Shane, as it does people like myself and people like Callum McGregor.”"

Most Celtic fans will take a positive result over a stunning performance anytime, but everyone would enjoy winning the game in style so Broony’s thoughts on that will please all Hoops supporters:

"“We always want to entertain. We want to win, that’s the most important thing, and we want to play attractive football whenever we can. We’re well-organised on the park, and I think that’s what we’ve been especially good at this season so far.”"

It’s been quite a week so far with all the issues, it could be quite a game. Bring it on!
