Reliable sources have claimed that Celtic are set to be handed a massive boost heading into tomorrow’s Glasgow Derby.

There is no denying the fact that the past week or so has been an absolute nightmare for Celtic fans. They have had to witness one player after the other go down while away on international duty, leaving the Hoops significantly weakened heading into the first Glasgow Derby of the season on Saturday.

Odsonne Edouard was the first to test positive while he was with the France under-21 team. Then, Ryan Christie was placed in a 14-day isolation after it was adjudged that he had been a close contact of Stuart Armstrong while with the Scotland national team. The Israeli duo of Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed also ended up returning positive tests within days of each other.

As a result, Neil Lennon has been left with a thing squad of players to pick his team from. But if recent reports are indeed true, then he might get a timely boost before Saturday.

The Scottish Sun claim that Arsenal have managed to get Kieran Tierney’s 14-day isolation period cut short so that he is available for their game against Manchester City tomorrow. And if that is indeed the case, then the authorities must also let Christie play as both the players have returned negative tests while in isolation.

The Scottish Sun reports on the matter:

"ARSENAL are poised to confirm they’ve successfully negotiated for Kieran Tierney to cut short his 14-day isolation period and be available for tomorrow’s game against Man City at the Etihad. And that will immediately spark a demand from Celtic for answers and a similar result for Ryan Christie ahead of the first Old Firm derby of the season."

There is always the question though whether things have been left a bit too late. We are less than 24 hours away from the big game and Christie has not trained with a team for over a week now. In fact, Celtic have sent him gym equipment so that he can stay in shape while isolating.

So if does end up becoming available, it would be tall task to ask him to start tomorrow in one of the biggest games of the season. Despite that though, this will be a huge boost to the Hoops. Even the option of bringing someone with his abilities off the bench is a big deal.

As things stand though, nothing is clear yet. But with the growing confidence that Tierney is set to be available for Arsenal, Celtic fans can start hoping that Christie will be in the squad tomorrow as well.
