Rangers could be without five players for Glasgow Derby

While Celtic’s problems are well-documented, Rangers could also be without five of their players when they visit Parkhead for the first Glasgow Derby of the season.

It is no secret that Celtic have their troubles heading into this Saturday’s Glasgow Derby against the Rangers. James Forrest was already out after suffering a fractured ankle. And then the international break brought with it a series of blows.

In the span of just a week, Odsonne Edouard, Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed had all tested positive while away on national duty. And Ryan Christie was also put into a 14-day isolation after it was adjudged that he had been in close contact with Scottish teammate Stuart Armstrong, who also tested positive. And while the Celtic midfielder himself has not, he is out of Saturday’s game.

There has not been much talk about the injury woes about the other team although it appears that they have significant worries themselves.

As reported by the Daily Record, the Rangers might be about to miss as many as five players on Saturday. Alan McGregor, Kemar Roofe, Joe Aribo and Filip Helander are all in doubt for the game. Alfredo Morelos on the other hand are set to return later in the week after representing the Colombian team.

Borna Barisic has been cleared to play for Croatia though meaning he will be available for the Glasgow Derby as well.

If this is indeed the case than the playing field would be much more Of course, Celtic should not depend on these rumours. It would not be the first time that injuries have been used as a smokescreen heading into the big game.

So do not be surprised if most of these players end up turning out for the Rangers on Saturday. Unfortunately that won’t be the case for the Hoops.
