Kristoffer Ajer has finally broken his silence over his Celtic future as reports have continued to link him with a Parkhead exit for the past couple of seasons.
Kristoffer Ajer has been a regular feature in the Celtic first-team for a few seasons now. Of course, that has caught the attention of clubs all around Europe and he has been constantly linked with a Parkhead exit.
Ajer’s former agent even publicly admitted that he wanted to leave the club in this summer transfer window but that did not come to fruition. And with less than two years left on his contract, Celtic will only get one more opportunity to cash in on the Norwegian as it is unlikely that he will sign an extension with the club.
For the moment though, Ajer seems concentrated on Celtic and the historical 10IAR campaign. While admitting that there was interest in him, he seems ready to give it all this season before deciding on his future.
As reported by the Daily Record, he said:
"“I don’t want to comment too much on how the summer was.“Clearly there was a lot of interest but I have huge respect for the club I’m at.“I have a year and a half left on my contract and the club has given me an incredible amount.“I came to the club as an attacking midfielder and I’ve gone on to play 150 games, and play for a club that means so much to so many.“I haven’t rushed to move on. This is a really important season for the club and I’m looking forward to it.”"

Kristoffer Ajer has been a first-team regular and is a very important part of Neil Lennon’s plans. But there have been questions around his performances lately. He is not the best defender at the club right now. As a result, if the right offer comes in next season, the club would do well to let him go instead of losing him for free a year later.
Teams like Leicester City and AC Milan are reportedly interested in the Norwegian defender. And fans have also questioned his dedication to the club in recent times after his form has dipped visibly since a spectacular start to last season.
That is for the future though, as right now the most important thing is the 10IAR. And it is good to see that Ajer is preparing for the title charge instead of mulling over his future.
