A supercomputer has predicted the fate of the Premiership title as Celtic aim to secure 10IAR while the Rangers try to stop them.

Celtic have the chance of making history at the end of this season as they can lift a tenth straight Scottish league title, something that is considered as the ‘Holy Grail’ and has never been achieved before. Of course, in their way are the Rangers, who will do everything in their power to stop them. So who will come out on top come May? A supercomputer might just have the answer.

FiveThirtyEight is a statistics website that uses all kinds of data possible to predict the outcome of leagues from all around the globe. And their focus this time is on the Scottish Premiership.

The findings were reported by the Daily Record earlier today. And unsurprisingly they have given Celtic a 72 percent chance of lifting the title at the end of the season. It has then gone one step further and the algorithm has predicted that the Hoops will have 96 points. On the other hand, the Rangers are expected to have 88 points, which gives Celtic a comfortable 8-point gap at the top of the table.

Of course, league titles are not decided by supercomputers though. It will be the players who have to go out on the pitch and get the job done. But all of this will have a psychological effect on the Rangers.

Footballers are by nature, superstitious people. And it cannot feel good either to see a supercomputer predict that you are going to lose come the end of the season.

That’s for the future though as the focus right now has to be on next Saturday’s Glasgow Derby. And Celtic are in a pretty bad state heading into that game. Odsonne Edouard, Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed have all tested positive over the international break while Ryan Christie has also been ordered to spend 14 days in quarantine after coming contact with Stuart Armstrong.

Thus, it will be very interesting to see what kind of starting XI Neil Lennon picks on derby day. We might even need a supercomputer to figure that one out.
