Kenny Dalglish is on the Celtic board’s side when it comes to the decision they made a couple of years ago, which has been debated endlessly since then.

It is a decision that has caused a lot of debate amongst Celtic for the past couple of years. And it will probably continue to raise debates as long as Neil Lennon is in the managerial decision at Parkhead.

When Brendan Rodgers decided to let Celtic hang out in the dry and moved to Leicester City, the Celtic board appointed Neil Lennon as his replacement. And while, the Northern Irish manager has won every domestic title available to him since then, questions have always been raised about his abilities.

The first thing his detractors point towards is his ability to get the club back into the Champions League. For two straight seasons, they have crashed out of the qualifiers in disappointing fashion at the hands of opposition they were expected to beat. And while Europa League football has been secured both times, there is no debate that a club the size of Celtic belong in Europe’s premier competition.

Kenny Dalglish though fully supports the board’s decision to appoint Lennon as manager. As reported by The Sunday Post, he said:

"“Looking more closely at Neil’s record at Celtic in his second stint in charge, he has been great for the club. Celtic turned to Neil and he delivered success by getting the League title over the line and then the Scottish Cup for another Treble.“Neil had worked wonders at Hibernian but some may well have been surprised that the Hoops hierarchy turned to him to succeed Brendan. But he has repaid their faith.“Sure, he hasn’t managed to get over the line by qualifying for the Champions League. But he has delivered Europa League football and got to the final-32 last season. Winning 10-in-a-row will be the ultimate aim for Neil in the next eight months and rightly so. It’s what the supporters want, above all else.”"

One thing that nobody can Neil Lennon is the fact that he has been brilliant when it comes to domestic competition. It is not easy to continue to motivate a side that has won everything. But he has managed to get that out of them. He might not be the best manager in the world, but he has done the best he could out of what he has been given.

The story has been very different when it comes to Europe but then one can also raise the issue of the growing financial gap between clubs in modern football. But that is a debate for another day.

The fact of the matter is that Neil Lennon is our manager for one of the most important seasons in club history. And we have to back him till the end. Let’s secure ten-in-a-row together.
