Things have dramatically changed since though and at this point of time he is one of the most consistent performers at the club. Of course, his performances have caught the eye clubs from around the world, with French Ligue 1 side Nice being one of them.

According to The Scottish Sun, Patrick Vieira is understood to be an admirer of the midfielder and is hoping to reach a bargain deal for him as his contract at Celtic is quickly running out. As things stand, his contract is set to run out at the end of May in 2022.

As a result, if Celtic fail to get him to sign a contract extension, they could be forced to let him go at the end of the season instead of risking losing him for free in the following summer transfer window.

Of course, the best thing would be if Christie signs an extension with the club as he is an important member of Neil Lennon’s setup and the club will find it hard to replace someone of his quality.
