The former Celtic star is a free agent after being let go of by his club and appears desperate to make a Parkhead return.
It is a tale often repeated: a player leaves Celtic and then craves for a Parkhead later on in his career. There is just something about donning the Hoops that cannot be found at any other club. And that appears to be the case with Beram Kayal as well.
The Israeli midfielder spent four-and-a-half seasons playing for the Hoops, making 133 appearances for the club during that period of time. And while he suffered a number of injuries through the course of his Celtic career, he certainly was someone who was trusted by Neil Lennon during his first stint as manager.
That was not the case under Rony Deila though. Kayal found chances hard to find by under the new manager and ended up leaving just 6 months after his arrival.
Since then, he has gone on to enjoy a decent career down South with Brighton and Hove Albion, even being part of their promotion to the Premier League. He was deemed surplus to requirements at the end of last season though and was released by the club, which means he is a free agent right.

And there appears to be no mind where he would play next if given the choice. As reported by the Daily Record, Kayal said:
"“A few things have come in from Scotland but we didn’t go far with that. I respect the people, so I don’t want to say which clubs.“I need everything to be right. If it’s Celtic who come in, then I will be there tomorrow.”"
It does not appear though that the Hoops have an immediate need for a midfielder right now. As a result, it is hard to see a Kayal return come to fruition.
Crazier things have happened in football though. He is someone who Lennon was clearly fond of and if a few midfielders end up going down with injuries this season, it would not be a huge surprise if the boss decides to bring back a familiar face to Parkhead.
