Arsenal’s determined fight against the SFA’s decision should provide fresh hope to Celtic, who also find themselves in a similar situation.

This international break has been an absolute nightmare for Celtic. First, Odsonne Edouard ended up testing positive after reporting to French under-21 duty in Clarefontaine. And then, the Hoops were hit with a second blow in the space of a day after news broke out that Ryan Christie had also been ordered to self-isolate for 14 days after it was determined that he had been in close contact with Stuart Armstrong, who tested positive as well.

This means that both of them are now doubts for the upcoming Glasgow Derby that is set to be played on October 17th at Celtic Park. Combine that with the ankle injury of James Forrest and the fact that Albian Ajeti is in a race against to get fit for the game, and the Hoops seem to be in the middle of a bit of a crisis at the moment.

Another player who has also been ordered to isolate for 14 days is Kieran Tierney, who had already fought off the virus a couple of months back. And there might still be some hope for Celtic with regards to Ryan Christie as a result of it as Arsenal continue to fight to have him available for their upcoming game against Manchester City, which is also scheduled for October 17th.

The Scottish Sun reports:

"The Gunners are now determinedly lobbying both the Scottish and UK governments to get the 23-year-old’s isolation period lifted, believing he has also developed the necessary antibodies.Celtic have also demanded a full-scale government probe after Ryan Christie was ordered to self-isolate."

The most interesting thing here is the fact that both players have maintained social distancing and done nothing wrong in this situation. And neither of them has tested positive till now. As a result, one has to question the decision to place both of them in self-isolation if they continue to test negative.

It is a good sign that both the clubs are putting up a fight against the SFA’s decision but at this point it is most important that neither of the players end up returning positive tests over the next few days.
