After reports showed a prolific striker making his way elsewhere, a new report has a 24-goal ace making his way to Celtic.

The Celtic Bhoys recently wrote that a prolific 24-goal striker was out of the question for the Hoops to sign. However, it appears that Peterborough striker Ivan Toney’s future is up in the air as Head of Football Operations Nick Hammond is pressing hard for the striker according to The Sun.

This is particularly odd for a few reasons. The first is that Peterborough was seemingly in agreement with Brentford for an £11milllion transfer fee for the striker. This would usually mean it’s a done deal as they will surely not that big a figure for the striker. But Hammond appears to have not given up yet.

Secondly, why add another striker when Leigh Griffiths appears in shape, and oh, Odsonne Edouard? None of that is to mention Patryk Klimala who has looked good early.

The fact that the Hoops have been kept in the loop about the player suggest that Celtic are interested in the player and are in the race. The change in agent for Toney could bode well for the club who may be able to sneak in and snag the player.

But what does it mean that Celtic is pursuing another striker? Is Edouard on his way out, much like Alfredo Morelos? Could Griffiths’ time be up? Or does the club not believe that Klimala will work out? At some point adding another striker will force these questions to be answered.

Ivan Toney would instantly upgrade the squad, but not at the positions of most need which are goalkeeper and left-back. It remains to be seen how exactly he would fit in at the club, especially at a position of excess.

What do you think about the possible move? Would Toney make a good fit? Let us know on Twitter or in the comments!
